Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (ソニック・ザ・ヘッジホッグ 2) is a mobile port of the MegaDrive/Genesis game by the same name.

In the West, this game was again released in two parts by Glu Mobile (adapted by Rockpool Games from i-Mode to J2ME) as Sonic the Hedgehog 2: Dash! and Sonic the Hedgehog 2: Crash!.

While the (rather faithful) high-end versions of the J2ME port do appear to be based on the i-Mode release, the only devices that are known to have got such versions are some of the more powerful Sony Ericsson, Nokia and Samsung phones. Many other phone models instead received a much more poor J2ME Sonic 2 port that appears to be based on iFone's engine for low-end Sonic 1 versions. In addition, some versions of the J2ME high-end port don't have elements such as water transparency or Tails following Sonic.

Aside from the preinstalled Japanese demo from the P902iS, various versions are dumped: the Chinese versions (which have an introductory sequence exclusive to this iteration of the game), the International versions and the East Europe (Czech/Russian) versions. In the screenshots below, you can see the Japanese version.
