Persona Em (ペルソナ3エム, Persona 3 éM) is an RPG developed by BBMF and published by Atlus for Japanese mobile phones. Released on November 26th, 2007, for I-mode and December 12, 2007, for Yahoo!Keitai, Persona Em serves as a mobile adaptation of the popular Persona 3, It's designed as a side story focusing on a labyrinth called Oneiros. The game retains 3D graphics for dungeons and uses music based on the original game.
Gameplay[edit | edit source]
The game is divided into two main parts:
- Daytime Adventure Part: Players interact with characters, deepen relationships (known as "Social Links"), and engage in various activities through dialogue choices.
- Nighttime Dungeon Part: Players explore procedurally generated dungeons with changing layouts each time they enter. The primary dungeon, Oneiros, is a multi-floor structure similar to Tartarus from Persona 3.
The game included mechanics similar to those in Persona 3:
- Combat: Features simplified turn-based combat with elements such as "One More" for extra turns and "All-Out Attacks." Combat involves selecting commands for each party member.
- Dungeon Exploration: Oneiros consists of 80 floors with randomized layouts. The dungeon includes enemies, items, and boss encounters at certain floors. The Velvet Room allows Persona fusion to create new Personas.
- Social Links: Players can build relationships with characters through dialogue and activities, with unique items granted upon maxing Social Links. The game allows interaction with characters in various settings, including the Kirijo vacation home, the beach, and the forest.
Players form a party by selecting two characters to join the protagonist, each with unique abilities and weaknesses. Combat retains elements from Persona 3, including the "One More" system for additional actions and "All-Out Attacks" for powerful group attacks. The protagonist can acquire and fuse Personas, which are used strategically in battles.
Upon completing the game, players can start a New Game Plus, which functions similarly to Persona 3's New Game Plus mode. This mode allows players to replay the game and encounter all Arche-Personas, some of which are dependent on party composition.
